International Menstrual Hygiene Month

May is recognized globally as International Menstrual Hygiene Month—a time dedicated to raising awareness about menstrual health, promoting good hygiene practices, and breaking the silence and taboos surrounding menstruation.

In celebration of this important month, Swahiba Networks, together with its partners, organized the Jitambue (Know Yourself) Self-Worth Conference, themed around mental health.

During the conference, girls were empowered by seasoned speakers who emphasized that wisdom doesn’t always have to come from personal experience it can come from learning through the stories and mistakes of others. Personal testimonies served as powerful tools of inspiration, offering real-life lessons and hope.

The girls were encouraged to stay focused and to recognize that every season in life comes with a reason. They were reminded that each of them has a unique purpose and the ability to shape their own future. Their current struggles do not define them—they are gifts to their families, churches, and communities. Lack and hardship are not necessarily their fault; they may be part of a greater preparation, as God equips them to be rescuers of their generation. The speakers reassured them that the season of tears will not last forever—it will turn into a season of dancing. Within each girl lies the potential to become a lawyer, architect, landlord, or any dream they hold. They were reminded that when we speak, God listens. Each girl was encouraged to use what she has—be it the opportunity to learn or a passion to make a difference—as a tool for personal and community transformation. When God locates you, He sends help your way and positions you in a safe place, hidden and prepared for His perfect timing.

We are truly grateful to all the speakers and partners, including Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba HSC, MP , Mamake Boaz Gutu , Beyond Hoops Africa , Damaris Wa Dama Spares OriginalStephen Letoo , Inspire Teenagers Foundation , @Global Relief for Humanity , Mending Minds , @Kenya American Football Academy, @Spring of Hope Global. who made this day a memorable and impactful success.
